I'm sat here at 10:15 on a Thursday night waiting for images of toys I know are coming and those images will be there in the morning. Why? Because it's Botcon!
Put aside, just for a moment, all the crap that's gone on with Botcon and Fun Pub over the last 12 months. Forget about it.
It's Botcon.
Botcon is, for all intensive purposes, the Transformers event of the year. Ok, it may not have the same level of exclusivity now that SDCC and NYCC are such a prominent force for
Over the past 12 months (I can date it pretty much to Botcon last year), I have slowly stopped being interested in the majority of Transformer based products. The comics are ace at the moment but Prime and Rescue Bots do nothing for me, the toy lines fall short, even the exclusives for other markets aren't floating my boat as much as they use to. Save a few 3rd party products and the insanely addictive Kre-O, I haven't bought an official Transformer to keep since, I think, last September when I
Hey all, welcome to another blog of reflection and general grumpiness.
It all starts with the term 'the thrill of the chase'. A couple of years ago I use to check every shop I could locally, once a week, for new toys. On my way home from work, I use to dedicate an after noon to hunting down items and finding what's new on the shelves. This was before FMH, before I was even on the podcast or an Admin back at the old Moonbase2 so I was doing it out of of sheer pleasure, that giddy sensation
As you can all probably imagine, buying and selling Transformers is an easy business. Start with a little capital, get a decent job lot, split and sell, wash, rinse, repeat. Easy, no?
Well, that's what I thought in September before my life was taken over by a mountain of plastic. You see, selling Transformers isn't that easy. Sure, you price them cheap enough, people will snap them up but you've got, you know, make money, otherwise what's the point. So below I have given a rough breakdown
I saw the image of Poweriser Optimus Prime earlier and the strangest feeling came over me, one that I hadn't experienced from an official Transformer for at least a year. I got excited. Truly excited. And I couldn't work out why. The Prime line looks nice and all but my well documented disappointment with the show, combined with a hard nosed spending allowence and a deep and passionate love for all things Kre-O has utterly dampened any want or need for me to indulge another line of the same characters.
